Wilder Days Is a Big Deal Here In Mansfield

Almanzo and Laura Wilder moved to Mansfield with their daughter Rose in 1895.  So…So??

People were moving all over the country in those days, so what makes this a big deal?

Laura, encouraged by her family, began writing her childhood experiences growing up in a pioneer family.  Laura Ingalls Wilder wrote books for children telling them about her childhood.  These books are globally popular, yet Laura Ingalls Wilder and her family were just friendly neighbors in the community.  They made valuable contribution to the culture of Mansfield and by golly, we’re proud of them!  That is why Wilder Days is a Big Deal in Mansfield, Missouri.

If you visit and attend Wilder Days or tour Laura Ingalls Wilder’s home at Rocky Ridge Farm (http://lauraingallswilderhome.com)  you will understand even better.  We will be glad to see you.
