Mansfield, Missouri has been an active community since 1882! We are proud to be associated with world famous children's author Laura Ingalls Wilder who made her home at Mansfield with her husband Almanzo and daughter, Rose in 1895. Their farm home, Rocky Ridge Farm has become a fantastic museum and research complex near Mansfield. We feel the influence of this family's history in our lives every day. A favorite community celebration occurs during Wilder Days every September.
In the early 1900's, Mansfield was dubbed "The Crossroads of the Ozarks". Geographically, this title is appropriate. As a community where you can visit history or decide to make a home, Mansfield is indeed a crossroads in the events of your life. Mansfield reigns at nearly the highest altitude -- the tip-top of the Ozarks. We are well connected with good roads to access the metropolitan aspects of Springfield and Branson, St. Louis or Kansas City.
Or, you can use travel the back roads to view and enjoy the virtues of the rolling hills and views. In the spring, dogwoods and redbuds bloom abundantly to enhance the beauty of the Spring Ozarks. Through out the summer, there are other flowering and green aspects of the Ozarks which are not to be missed. In the fall, the Oaks, Maples, Sumac, Sassafras and other trees or vines vibrate with color. Winter is mild and pleasant -- we get a chance to enjoy views of the cardinals, blue jays, juncos and other wildlife that stay tucked among the green leaves in the summer.
Today, Mansfield offers 21st Century quality of life, plus security, precious solitude, serenity, and rich historic memories. 21st Century technology and community services are a constant focus of those who guide our community.
Mansfield has an excellent K-12 school system, plus quality daycare businesses, speaking a truth to the idea that it takes a village to raise a child. Children are important to this community. Grown-ups are also important. Mansfield has a rich history, but hasn't left a spirit of compassion and hospitality in the past. You will find the caring heart of Mansfield in friendly faces all around.
The Mansfield Area Chamber of Commerce is active in economic development issues for the community, providing community support, input and encouragement. Please feel free to contact us at 417-924-3525.
